"Never give up, never surrender."
I've got time, and this tip is for an audition! I just did paper for school on body image, so I thought this would make a good tip!
Looking at magazine for just 1-3 minutes can affect one's perception of their body image. Also, peer pressure effects many teen every day.
~DEALING WITH PEER PRESSURE~
In today's society, many are pressured by their peer to look a certain way or to have a specific attitude towards others. Just ignore them! If someone doesn't like you the way you are, they are not worth being your friend.
~WANTING TO FIT IN~
From personal experience, I know what it's like to want to fit in. Although, I may have tried changing the way I act or dress to impress, I know that nothing is better than just being me. I was not very liked, but after just being me, and not worrying about what others think, I am liked by others even more. You too can do this. Nothing is stopping you from wanting to change, but just remember that you don't need to change to be liked or to fit in. You are who you are.
~MEDIA MANIPULATION/THE SKINNY IMAGE~
Today, ads are directed towards teens and on average minors see about 25,000 advertisements per day. Looking at a magazine for just 1-3 minutes can change your perception on your body image/type. Society has created a distorted definition of beauty and an unrealistic image that implies women to be “flawless” and skinny. Truth is, no one is like this. Not even the models themselves. No one is perfect. No one is 100% flawless. No one is wrinkle-free or free of acne. But, everyone is enough. And everyone needs to have their own definition of beauty.
“Instead of changing the way we look... maybe it’s time to change the way we see.” We are our own enemies. Although it’s what society expects, stereotypes aren’t what define a person. It’s the person inside that counts, that makes you beautiful. Never hurt yourself if you think you aren’t enough. Whether you think you are overweight, ugly, or do not fit the “standards”, remember that you are still and always beautiful. Stay strong, and smile. Nobody is perfect, and you aren’t a barbie. Be who you are, you are enough. You have a life, make the most of it. Don’t ruin it because it’s not worth it.
Stay true!
xoxo,
Kayla
